Keepvid is a video and audio downloading utility that scours the Internet and gives users access to a vast database of over 15 million media files. It is fast, reliable and continually updated. The program is totally and completely free, and the interface is designed to help users quickly and easily find what they are looking for.

The process is very simple. Load the program, wait a few minutes for the database to start listing files, search for the ones that you want to download and then click the link. It will be downloaded into the directory of your choice, and you can start watching or listening to the file as the download is in progress. The program includes a very basic player that is not the greatest, but you can always open the downloaded file with the player of your choice later.

Another really cool feature is that you can choose to get the audio from a video file only. This means that you do not have to download a music video or movie clip if you are only interested in the audio portion of the file. This capability does not work for all files, but it is easy to search through the database and find alternatives if your first choice doesn't work.

My only real complaint is that the menu looks a little bit old and unattractive. I also don't that I need to manually move links around to initiate the download process. The program would be ideal if it was tied in with a download accelerator as well. Finally, you have to manually select or decline to install a lot of additional bundled programs and tool bars before the installation process begins.

These are just some minor issues that are worth dealing with to have access to a huge database of media to download for free. The Keepvid system is very easy to use, but the interface may seem intimidating at first. I love this program and I enjoy the fact that I can find most of the music and videos I'm looking for in one place.
